Central Westcoast Forest Society Winter Speaker Series with Dr. Colin Levings
CWFS Winter Speaker Series - Ecology of Salmonids in Estuaries
Dr. Colin Levings, B.Sc. and M Sc. from University of British Columbia in Zoology and Fisheries, will be the evening's speaker. Based on his recent book, Ecology of Salmonids in Estuaries Around the World: Adaptations, Habitats and Conservation, the talk will present an overview of our current knowledge of how sea-run salmonid species (salmon, steelhead, char, and trout) around the world are adapted to estuaries. Levings will also discuss the various types of estuaries found in Canada and elsewhere and relate their habitats to conservation of salmonids and their supporting ecosystems.
The evening will also be attended by Susan Lee from the Blackberry Cove Bookstore to sell Dr. Leving's book, Ecology of Salmonids in Estuaries Around the World: Adaptations, Habitats and Conservation. Dr. Leving's will be donating author royalties to the non-profits Pacific Salmon Foundation and UBC Press!
