Tourism Tofino Appoints Executive Director

Tourism Tofino, the destination marketing organization (DMO) formed in 2008 to promote the attributes of the community of Tofino to the world-wide travel industry, today announced the appointment of Sharon Lingenfelter as Executive Director.

A Tofino resident, Lingenfelter has a notable record of achievement as a seasoned business executive with extensive tourism industry experience. Most recently, she held the position of Executive Director of the Oregon Restaurant Education Foundation where she
worked to establish the highest standards in training for tourism and hospitality industry employees by building and leveraging strategic alliances. Lingenfelter has also held senior management positions with various state and provincial organizations, including the Workers'  Compensation Board of British Columbia.

"We are delighted to welcome Sharon to Tourism Tofino," said Charles McDiarmid, chairman of Tourism Tofino's Board of Directors. "Her extensive experience and enthusiasm will be great assets to the organization. We especially look forward to Sharon's immediate contributions to the far-reaching programs already underway to promote Tofino as a must-visit, year-round destination.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to help boost Tofino's reputation as a premier destination for visitors from all locations and walks of life," said Lingenfelter.
